COWBOYS FOR CANCER RESEARCH
When Alma Cohorn died of cancer in 1981, Rawley Jackson and US West Telephone Pioneers Sunshine Club held a team roping benefit in her memory. All the money raised from this benefit was donated to University of New Mexico Comprehensive Cancer Center (UNMCCC) with the instructions to 'use the money where it was most needed.' In 1999 The Alma Cohorn Memorial/CCR Endowment was established at UNMCCC to support cancer research.
In early 2011, the CACR Endowed Fund, was established at New Mexico State University (NMSU) to also support cancer research. Additionally, in 2019, C4CR established two (2) C4CR/Elsie P. Barry Memorial Endowed Professorships for Cancer Research, at UNMCCC. This is the largest single contribution C4CR has ever received.
To date through your generous donations, more than $3 million has been contributed to UNMCCC, and $2.5 million to NMSU for cancer research.
THE UNIVERSITY OF NEW MEXICO COMPREHENSIVE CANCER CENTER
The University of New Mexico Comprehensive Cancer Center is the Official Cancer Center of New Mexico and the only National Cancer Institute-designated Cancer Center in a 500-mile radius. UNMCCC is among the top 3% of cancer centers in the United States with 146 board certified oncology specialty physicians that include cancer surgeons in every specialty; adult and pediatric hematologist/medical oncologist, gynecologic oncologists, and radiation oncologists. They, along with more than 600 other cancer healthcare professionals, provide treatment to 65% of New Mexico's cancer patients from all across the state and partner with community health systems statewide to provide cancer care closer to home. The more than 125 cancer research scientists affiliated with the UNM Comprehensive Cancer Center have published over 950 manuscripts, filed 136 new patents, and launched 10 new biotechnology start-up companies, all while providing education and training experiences to more than 500 students annually in cancer research and cancer health care delivery.
NEW MEXICO STATE UNIVERSITY
COWBOYS FOR CANCER RESEARCH
New Mexico State University (NMSU) has outstanding faculty focusing on cancer research projects and training young scientist in multiple departments across the university. Current projects are using cutting edge molecular and live cell imaging to develop new drug combinations that effectively target the growth of actively dividing tumor cells without the side effects associated with other cancer drugs, and bio-engineers are developing microfluidics technology for early detection, diagnosis, and treatment of cancer patients. MSU researchers partner with colleagues from the UNM Cancer Center and the Fred Hutchinson Cancer Center to conduct cutting edge research and to reach out to local communities to encourage cancer screening and improve communications that inform health choices.
From 2007- 2017, Cowboys For Cancer Research teamed up with the NMSU Aggies Are Tough Enough To Wear Pink campaign which became the largest non-rodeo Tough Enough To Wear Pink event in the world!

Cowboys for Cancer Research, ORGANIC Colombian, Ground, One Pound-$5 Donated
I absolutely love this coffee. I’m somewhat of a coffee snob because I try to drink only organic coffee. I drink my first cup in the morning black and this coffee did not disappoint. It has a delicious rich smooth flavor. I love that it is organic and also supports a great cause. You’ll definitely be able to “spur the day” with this coffee.
I started buying Rising Sun just over a year ago -. thanks Cowgirl Hall of Fame for inviting them to one of your events. this "morning coffee" is the one we also use for that second little pop in afternoon. It never bites. For most of my adult life one test of great whiskey is it's smooth - no bite. Rising Sun is so mellow I believe it's roasted like great whiskey with CARE. Some months my subscription runs out before it's due date - but I also rush in anther order. Can't wait to see everyone again at the New Cowgirl coffee shop.... a cowpuncher lovers treat.
I really love it I carry it on my bike with Cowpuncher Coffee in it. Thank You Kindly
Cowpuncher Coffee’s Bull Hauler Brew dark roast is smooth in a way most dark roasts just aren’t. It’s bold and rich without that harsh, bitter bite. Easy to drink black, but still full of flavor. It’s the first thing I reach for when I wake up, and I even make it ahead and keep it in the fridge for cold coffee. From sun up to sun down, the energy stays steady. It’s the kind of coffee you can count on to keep up. Perfect for early mornings and long days. If you want a dark roast that works, this one does.
Would like to start with this is one of the best premium coffees I have ever had.
Funny, we thought you couldn't beat Cowpuncher for a good dark cup of coffee but you've done it with Bull Wagon-so dark, so smooth. We often mix the two because we can't wean ourselves off the Cowpuncher!! Both make a cup of coffee that will get you out in the saddle!
